Restaurants & Shopping

There are no restaurants or retail space at Talus. Some limited retail is expected to be constructed at a future date.

Near the neighborhood is downtown Issaquah and the Gilman Boulevard commercial district. These commercial areas offer groceries, restaurants, gas stations, shopping and other services, all of which are minutes from any location in the Talus neighborhood.

Also nearby is Gilman Village in downtown Issaquah. Gilman Village is a unique shopping experience, offering restaurants like Bamiyan Afghan Cuisine and Tantalus Greek Bistro, specialty stores like Aubrey’s Clock Gallery and White Horse Toys, or even professional services like Village Family Clinic & Wellness Center. Many of the stores utilize original Issaquah buildings that were collected and renovated by Marvin and Ruth Mohl in 1972. The stores are locally owned, and unique to Gilman Village.

Schools

Unlike some of the larger communities, Talus does not include its own schools.

Talus is located in the Issaquah School District. Issaquah Valley Elementary, Issaquah Middle School, and Issaquah High School serve this area.

Family & Fitness

Talus is nestled among the Issaquah Alps, offering intimate access to Cougar Mountain Wildland Park and Squak Mountain State Park, often referred to as the Cougar-Squak Corridor.

Cougar Mountain Wildland Park boasts 3,100 acres of diverse wildlife, and recreational opportunities. The park is well-known for its wonderful nature trails for hiking, walking, and running.

Squak Mountain offers great hiking and equestrian trails, readily accessible from the Talus community.

Together, these two parks offer 5,000 acres of protected, public land.

Tibbets Valley Park is a prominent feature of the area. Sitting at the northern base of nearby Squak Mountain, this park features several baseball and soccer fields, picnic areas and shelter, tennis courts, a playground, and hiking trails.

Also in Tibbets Valley is Tibbets Creek Manor. It is a rent-able facility, used often for wedding ceremonies, receptions, corporate meetings, seminars, and other celebrations. It is 7,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, with plenty of parking, creating a very unique opportunity and venue for community events.

This community is also only a few minutes away from Lake Sammamish State Park. It is a 512 acre park that includes 6,858 feet of waterfront, and opportunities for boating, hiking, swimming, baseball and softball, basketball, and picnics.
